Mariano Acosta was an Argentine lawyer, journalist, politician, and educator who lived from 1825 to 1893. He was one of the founders of the Argentine Supreme Court and served as its first president in 1863. He was a strong advocate for education and helped establish the National College of Buenos Aires, where he served as a professor and later as its director. Acosta was also involved in politics and served in the Argentine National Congress, representing the Province of Buenos Aires. He was an active participant in the Argentine Federation movement, which sought to establish a federal system of government in Argentina. Acosta is considered a prominent figure in Argentine history and is honored with various statues and plaques throughout the country.
